News Center_The campaign of arrests targeting women in Herat is raising growing rights-based concerns regarding restrictions on women’s freedom in public spaces,and the violations of their dignity and exposure to discriminatory practices that affect their fundamental rights.

The women’s rights organization Femena reported that the Tailban continue to carry out abductions in Herat,using vehicles, patrols,and female personnel from the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice to arrest women from various areas within the city.

According to the report, based on local sources who spoke to the organization and Ravi Zan Media, 17 women were abducted over the past five days from the Lelami Bazaar area, Ghor Darwaz, and the Almas-e Sharq Commercial Complex in Herat. The report noted that while the detained women were wearing hijab and full burqas, female morality police officers searched their clothing under their burqas before taking them away on various pretexts of "violations" .
