Federal Kurdistan Region: 13,584 women subjected to violence in 2021

General Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and Family has announced that 13,584 women were subjected to violence in 2021 in Federal Kurdistan Region.

 

Sulaymaniyah- General Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and Family has announced the data on violence against women in 2021 in the Federal Kurdistan Region.

According to the data, 13,584 women were subjected to violence in 2021. 24 women were killed, 26 women committed suicide, 86 women were burned, 153 women were subjected to sexual harassment, and 13,259 reported violence against them, the report says.

In 2020, 10,625 women were subjected to violence in Federal Kurdistan Region; 25 women were killed, 39 committed suicide, 125 were subjected to sexual harassment, and 10.370 reported violence against them. In Federal Kurdistan Region, gender-based violence has increased by 21.7% in 2021 compared to 2020.
