Qamishlo- The protests that sparked in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by so-called “morality police”, have continued for more than three months. Despite the torture, attack, execution and oppression of the Iranian regime, the people keep holding anti-regime protests. Demanding the change of the regime system, people take to the streets by chanting anti-regime slogans. In an interview with NuJINHA, Evin Paşo, chair of the Cizîrê Region Women's Committee, emphasized that the uprising in Rojhilat Kurdistan and Iran is a source of strength for women all over the world.

Women never give up struggling

Evin Paşo stated that the nation-state protects its power through a dominant system. “For this reason, this system never accepts the leadership of women. It always produces sexist thoughts. It ignores women’s rights to make its oppressive system permanent. Undoubtedly, women always resist and struggle for their rights and freedom against the patriarchal mentality. Throughout history, women have always struggled to defend their rights. For thousands of years, hundreds of resisting women have been trying to change the fate that has been designed for women. As women of the Middle East, we are also in the system causing violence against women. Women all around the world are subjected to this violence. The systems based on religions aim to perpetuate female slavery. In addition, these systems have made women nonfunctional in many areas. Undoubtedly, this oppression has affected most women of the Middle East. For this reason, the Middle East is the center of women's uprising and struggle.”

‘Kurdish women’s hair sparked the uprising’

Pointing to the Kurdish Women’s Freedom Movement, Evin Paşo said, “The Kurdish Women’s Freedom Movement has a long history. It has established the philosophy of freedom with its principles. The revolution that took place on July 19 is known as a women’s revolution. The gains achieved by women in this revolution are not only the gains of North and East Syrian women but also all women in the world. The slogan ‘Jin, Jiyan Azadî’ originated in North and East Syria. Today, it is chanted by women in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan. The protests that started due to the hair of Kurdish woman Jîna Aminî are a historical step. All women’s movements and organizations have supported the revolution led by women in Iran and Rojhilat. This uprising has become a legend for the world. Women are determined to change the system. When this uprising goes down in history, it will be written, ‘A Kurdish woman's hair shook a dominant system.’

Health of Zeyneb Celaliyan is deteriorating

Sending her support to the protesters in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan, Evin Paşo drew attention to the health of Kurdish activist Zeynep Celaliyan, who has been held in an Iran’s prison for 15 years. “Women still face execution in Iran. The health of Zeyneb Celaliyan is deteriorating every day. However, the Iranian authorities do not allow her to go to a hospital. As women of Rojava Kurdistan, we stand by the women of Rojhilat Kurdistan. We say ‘jin, jiyan, azadî’ with the spirit of our revolution.”
