Emine Şenyaşar: “I will sit here until having justice”
Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have held a sit-in protest, known as “Justice Watch”, in front of Urfa Courthouse for 31 days. Ferit Şenyaşar said that the prosecutor's office has identified 23 people who attacked them and as Şenyaşar family, they expect the necessary steps to be taken.
Riha – The relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP Ibrahim Halil Yıldız attacked the Şenyaşar family members in their shop and then in the hospital and killed Emine Şenyaşar’s two sons and husband. Her son Fadıl Şenyaşar was wounded in the attack but he was arrested just after being discharged from hospital and he was sentenced to 37 years and nine months in prison. Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have held a sit-in protest in front of Urfa Courthouse for 31 days demanding justice. Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (HRFT) Diyarbakır Branch members visited the family in front of the courthouse to support their protest for justice.
“A month passed, I will sit here even if a year passes”
Emine Şenyaşar told the members of the HRFT about what they had faced during a year. “My son has been unlawfully held in prison. I demand his release. They (police) constantly attack us whenever we sit here. A month passed, I will sit here until having justice even if a year passes. We have felt like death for three years. We will stay here even if they kill us. Arrest those who killed us,” said Emine Şenyaşar while her son Ferit Şenyaşar said that the prosecutor's office has identified 23 people who attacked them and as Şenyaşar family they expect the necessary steps to be taken.
