Riha - Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in an attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, survived the attack, have held a sit-in protest in front of Urfa Courthouse demanding justice for 95 days. Today, members of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) Headquarters, Van, Istanbul, Diyarbakır, Urfa and Antep Branches and the Society and Legal Research Foundation (TOHAV) visited the Şenyaşar family in front of the Urfa Courthouse. Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar thanked the delegation members for their support.
“We stand by your rightful struggle”
Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) Co-chair İlknur Akcan talked to the family and said, “We support you because the situation of judgment process is unfortunately obvious. People no longer seek justice in courtrooms because no effective investigations have been carried out. All people in Turkey know who killers are. An effective investigation should be carried and the perpetrators should be punished. As in many cases, no investigation has been carried out in this case either. Lawyers held a sit-in protest demanding justice for months. Many people hold such protests to demand justice. We stand by your rightful struggle. We will keep this struggle together.”
Emine Şenyaşar: Killers are free
Emine Şenyaşar gave information to the visitors about what they have faced since the attack took place. Police recorded the visit of the delegation. Emine Şenyaşar reacted to the police and said, “Follow the killers instead of following us. The killers are free.”
