Istanbul- Three members of the Peace Mothers Initiative, who were attacked and detained by police after issuing a statement in front of the Dolmabahça Palace to mark the 1st September World Peace Day, have been released.

Members of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, the mothers holding Justice Watch for their children in prison, gathered in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district to mark the 1st September World Peace Day. In the statement, they expressed their demand for peace once again by addressing the Dolmabahçe Agreement, a ten-point plan negotiated between Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Turkish state for a resolution to the Kurdish question.

After issuing the statement, Bedia Gökgüz, Zeliha Gökgüz and Şükran Tugay were attacked and detained by police while walking to Beşiktaş Pier to go home. After being questioned at the Beşiktaş District Police Department, the mothers have been released.
