DEM Party Istanbul MPs protest appointment of trustee to municipality in Hakkari

People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs hung a banner over the Aqueduct of Valens at Saraçhane, an important intersection in Istanbul, to protest the appointment of a trustee to the municipality in Hakkari.

News Center- People’s Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-spokesperson Cengiz Çiçek and People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Istanbul MPs, Kezban Konukçu and Çiçek Otlu, protested the appointment of a trustee to the municipality in Hakkari and the arrest of workers on May Day by hanging a banner over the Aqueduct of Valens (Turkish: Bozdoğan Kemeri) at Saraçhane, an important intersection in Istanbul’s Fatih district.

The banner hung by DEM Party MPs read, “Taksim and Hakkari are ours, freedom to May Day, the trustee gets lost”. The DEM Party MPs also chanted slogans such as “Bijî berxwedana Colemêrgê (English: Long live the resistance in Hakkari)”, “Long live May Day” and “The trustees will go, we will stay”.
