Hasekê – A video showing men stoning a girl to death in the Hasekê (Al-Hasakah) city of NE Syria was shared on social media platforms yesterday. The video sparks anger in the country. The girl identified as Îda El Hemûdi was brutally stoned to death by her family male members. In the video, the girl tried to run away from being stoned to death but the men caught her. “She is still alive, kill her,” said the men in the video.

Women's Rights and Protection Center made a statement about the incident and condemned the killing of the girl. The center also demanded the killers be identified and punished in the most severe way. “We strongly condemn the murder of a girl named Îda El Hemûdi in the Zihûr neighborhood of Hesekê. The authorities should immediately open an investigation into the incident bring those responsible to justice and ensure that they will be punished in the most severe way.
