CFWIJ: Journalism is not a crime
Yeni Yaşam Newspaper Managing Editor İnci Aydın, who faced terror-related charges, has been acquitted. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) has announced that they welcome the court ruling, adding, “However, we demand the same decision for other journalists on trial. Journalism is not a crime.”
News Center- The second hearing of the trial against journalist İnci Aydın for her article titled "Is the New Attack Coming Ahead" on July 17, 2020, was held yesterday by Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court. Aydın and her lawyers attended the hearing. The court ruled acquittal to Aydın citing that “there was no criminal element”.
“We demand the same decision for all journalists”
The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) has announced that they welcome the verdict of acquittal, “We find the court decision proved once again that journalism is not a crime. We demand the same decision from the Turkish authorities for all journalists on trial.”
