Shehba- January 20 is a dark day for the people of Afrin. On January 20, 2018, Turkey and its paramilitary groups launched an operation on Afrin to occupy the city. Thousands of the people of Afrin were forcibly displaced from Afrin to the cities of NE Syria, particularly to Shehba. On the fourth anniversary of the occupation of Afrin, the people of Shehba commemorated those who lost their lives in Afrin at their graves

The commemoration ceremony was organized by the Martyrs' Families Council. Candles were lit on the graves of those who lost their lives in Afrin and the council issued a statement. Making a speech on behalf of the council and the Kurdish Language Teachers, Eliye Ebdo noted that they will return Afrin one day.

Today, the people of Afrin living in Shehba will organize a march in Shehba to protest the occupation of Afrin.
