BERÇEM CÛDÎ

Kobanî - Kurdistan Free Women's Movement (RJAK) members Xewla Mihemed Hesen, Ciwana Abdulbaqî, and Seyran Ehmed attended the commemoration event held in Shengal for the anniversary of the genocide against Yazidis by ISIS on August 3, 2014. After attending the commemoration, they returned to Hewlêr the capital of the Southern Kurdistan Region. The KDP forces detained them there. No news has been received from the three women for 14 days. Their families have made many attempts until now but they haven’t received any response.

“KDP does what the Turkish state does”

Hedle Hesen, a member of the Kongreya Star Coordination in the Euphrates Region, spoke to our news agency about the detention of three women. “South is a part of Kurdistan and every Kurd have the right to live and stay there. The KDP does what the Turkish state does in north, west, and east Syria. The Turkish state has targeted dozens of politicians and leaders of society there. Hevrin Xelef, Zehra Berkel, Hind and Seida were killed. It (Turkish state) has abducted civilians and bombed their houses. Now, it does the same thing in the south by using the KDP. The detention of three female politicians shows this.”

Call on women

Hedle Hesen called on women to take to the streets against the practices in Southern Kurdistan. “Women and children become victims of wars and conflicts. For this reason, the women living in Southern Kurdistan should have a stance. They should take to the streets against the policies of the KDP. Women should play an important role in this process. We should lead society for Kurdish unity. As women of Rojava, we support the women living in Southern Kurdistan.”
