At least 700 people arrested in Iran

At least 700 people were arrested in the protests that were held to mark the first anniversary of the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini.

Iran- Thousands took to the streets in Iran and Rojhelat Kurdistan to mark the first anniversary of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)” uprising and to commemorate Jina Mahsa Amini, who was killed by Iran’s so-called “morality police” in Tehran on September 16, 2022.

Iranian security forces arrested at least 700 people in the protests held in the cities of Rojhelat Kurdistan such as Saqqez, Sanandaj, Sistan and Baluchestan province and in Tehran and Urmia. According to the received reports, the families of arrested people tried to get information about their relatives; however, they were given no information. Iranian security forces attacked the families waiting in front of the Tehran Metropolitan Relief Unit. Many were reportedly injured in the attack.
