Women activists came together in Kabul to issue a statement. In the statement they demanded to return to work, go to school and expressed difficulties they face due to the economic crisis in the country. The activists report that they have received threat calls by persons saying that they work for the Taliban's intelligence services.

“We will not take a step back”

Despite the threat calls, the activists told us that they will not bow to the persecution and practices of the Taliban and that they will keep struggling against the harassment and oppression they face. “If something happens to us, the Taliban will be responsible. We will not take a step back and continue to take part in protests,” they told us.

Stating that the Taliban should respect the demands of women, the activists said that they will continue to protest against being deprived of their rights to work, receive education and participate in social life. “We will keep protesting until we get our rights back.”
