News Center_The recurrence of femicides in Iran and East Kurdistan comes as an inevitable result of the absence of deterrent laws to confront the killing of women and provide protection for those at risk of violence_ a matter that remains a serious concern for women's rights activists.

A survey covering the second half of June and the first half of July documented various reports of women and children being killed,cases of suicide, and the execution of death sentences against women in Iran, In many of these crimes, the perpetrators were people close to the victims_such as a husband, a former flancé, or a marriage suitor.

Regarding the details of the crimes: on June 24, a woman was killed in front of her workplace in the city of Rey by her former fiancé. The following day, a 14-year-old child was killed by a 24-year-old man.That same day, 22-year-old Maryam Hooshmand and her 47-year-old mother, Amineh Torabi, were shot dead in front of their home in Kavar country.

On June 27, a man in Tehran killed his wife, and two days later, on June 29, Mahnaz Eslami was shot dead in front of her child on Saeb Street in Sirjan. The killings continued on July 1, when a 40-year-old woman was killed by her husband in the Haft Janar area of Tehran.

On July 6, a 31-year-old woman was killed in the Hasht Bangaleh neighborhood of Masjed Soleyman by a man who had proposed marriage to her. Two days later, on July 8, Zahra, 28, a mother of two, was killed by her husband in the city of Marand.

On July 12, a man in Marrivan killed his wife and her father with a firearm. On July 15, one of the bloodiest incidents of the month tool place in the city of Chaldoran, when 33-year-old Mohammad Ghavide killed his pregnant wife, 30-year-old Hawa Amiri, his three-year-old daughter Bita Ghavided, and his 62-year-old mother,Seiran Hakimi.

In additiion to these cases, a 17-year-old child in Bukan country died after being shot with a hunting rifle, and a woman was killed by her husband in the city of Birjand_ though the published reports did not specify the exact dates of these two incidents.

Suicide as a Result of Perssure and Threats

On June 28, Jiyan Ali Mohammadi and Shoresh Karimi, two young women from Saqqez, took their own lives. On July 13, reports emerged of the suicide of three girls in Lorestan province, with threats, digital extortion, and social pressure reportedly playing a role in these cases.

Execution Carried Out

On July 18, a death sentence was carried out against Azam Karami, a woman of Lori ethnicity, at the central prison in Yasuj.

These crimes once again bring into focus the state of security for women and children in Iran_from the killing of women family and cloce relationships, to social pressures and the carrying out of death sentences. the absence of legal protection and effective mechanisms to prevent violence continues to leave women and children exposed to serious risks.
