News Center – The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM party) delegation announced in a statement following its meeting with leader Abdullah Öcalan that the focus of the discussion was the ongoing developments in Syria. Leader Öcalan expressed his concern regarding the attacks and escalating tensions, describing the situation as "an attempt to undermine the peace process and a democratic society."
The DEM party delegation met with Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı on Saturday, January 17. Following the meeting, the delegation issued a statement in which Öcalan reaffirmed his commitment to the peace process and building a democratic society.
The statement read, "Yesterday, we met with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı for approximately two and a half hours. During the meeting, Mr. Öcalan reaffirmed his commitment to the peace process and a democratic society, and that the vision of February 27 remains valid. He reiterated the importance of taking the necessary steps and moving the process forward."

Leader Öcalan expressed his deep concern regarding the attacks and escalating tensions, describing the situation as an attempt to undermine the peace process and a democratic society. He emphasized that Syria's problems can only be resolved through dialogue, negotiation, and common sense.
The statement noted that Leader Öcalan affirmed his readiness to fulfill his responsibilities to remove this issue from the battlefield through dialogue. He reiterated his call for all actors to play their roles constructively and act with sensitivity and responsibility.
