News Center – Incidents of domestic violence that end in horrific murders are on the rise, revealing a dangerous escalation in the level of tension within some families and the absence of effective mechanisms to contain disputes. Local reports indicate that minor disagreements sometimes turn into bloody confrontations, the price of which is paid by family members themselves.

A woman was killed and three others were injured yesterday, Friday, February 20, after a man detonated a hand grenade inside a house in Al-Khafji neighborhood, south of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, according to local sources.

According to the sources, the perpetrator, Saeed Hamed Mohammed Abdulrahman, who hails from the city of Raymah, threw the grenade into his wife’s family home, targeting her relatives. This led to the death of her mother, Zahra Muad Mahram.

The explosion also caused injuries to the wife, her brother, and the perpetrator himself from scattered shrapnel. The injured were transferred to the hospital to receive treatment. The sources explained that the attacker had attempted to shoot his wife before the explosion, but those present managed to stop him, after which he immediately detonated the grenade inside the house.
