A Bloody Month in Iran… Women and Children Victims of Violence and Killing
In a single month, Iran experienced a surge of horrific crimes, including the murder of dozens of women and children, alongside executions and suicides, highlighting a severe and alarming escalation of domestic and societal violence.
News Center _Iranian society has recently witnessed an alarming rise in rates of domestic and societal violence, as incidents of murder, suicide, and executions have become recurring phenomena, particularly affecting women and children. This underscores the urgent need for comprehensive reforms that promote justice and provide a safe environment for women and children in Iran.
In the city of Mashhad, a man brutally murdered his 60-year-old wife by repeatedly striking her on the head with an axe, then mutilated her body by cutting open her abdomen with scissors and attempting to sever her legs. This incident cannot be viewed as an isolated domestic crime, but rather as a dangerous indicator of the escalating domestic violence against women.
The home—supposed to be the safest place for women—has in many cases turned into a space of threat and danger. The repetition of such crimes shows that violence against women is not an exception, but a deeply rooted structural problem that continues to worsen. Societal silence, lack of effective support for women, normalization of domestic violence, and weak institutional mechanisms all contribute to the persistence and expansion of this phenomenon within Iranian society.
