Riha - Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have held a sit-in protest in front of Urfa Courthouse for 49 days demanding justice. The Şenyaşar family stated that they will keep their protest until their voice heard and they called for solidarity.
Emine Şenyaşar’s husband and two sons were killed by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP Ibrahim Halil Yıldız in Suruç district of Urfa province just before the general elections held in Turkey on June 24, 2018. Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have held a sit-in protest in front of Urfa Courthouse demanding justice since March 9.
The Şenyaşar family held their protest at home for three days due to the tree-day curfew imposed in Turkey to reduce coronavirus cases. Today, the family members came in front of the courthouse to hold their sit-in protest. “My son has been sentenced to prison. But the members of Halil Yıldız will be sentenced to several years and they will be released. Those who killed my family members in the hospital walk freely outside. We demand justice in Ramadan,” Emine Şenyaşar said.
