Şenyaşar family: Justice should be immediately delivered

“Justice should be immediately delivered,” said Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who have demanded justice in front of Urfa Courthouse for their killed relatives for 239 days.

Riha – The sit-in protest staged in front of Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 239th day. The family drives 42 kilometers from Suruç district to Urfa every day to hold their sit-in protest. Their lawyer Serhat Kurt joined their protest today.

The family started their sit-in protest in the dooryard of the courthouse on March 9. However, they were forcibly removed from there by the police on the fifth day of their protest. Today, the family held their protest in the dooryard of the courthouse again. “Minister of Justice, the courthouse is more than a signboard. Doesn’t this courthouse run by the Ministry of Justice? A mother’s husband and children were killed and she has held a sit-in protest in front of this building for eight months.  Why isn’t justice delivered? Justice should be immediately delivered,” Ferit Şenyaşar said today.

Journalists were blocked to take footage

Police blocked the reporter of the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) to take footage of the protest. The reporter was told, “Taking footage inside and around the courthouse is forbidden,” and he was removed from the dooryard of the courthouse. Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar are keeping holding their protest in the dooryard of the courthouse.
