Şenyaşar family calls on Turkey’s Parliament: The incident should be investigated

On the 175th day of their sit-in protest, the Şenyaşar family called on Turkey’s Parliament to establish a Parliamentary Investigative Commission to investigate the incident that left their three members dead.

Riha- The sit-in protest for justice staged by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 175th day.

Even if today is a public holiday in Turkey, the family went in front of the Urfa Courthouse to hold their protest. Addressing the Parliamentary Commission for Investigating Human Rights, Ferit Şenyaşar said, “. A mother over 65 has held a sit-in protest in front of the courthouse for 175 days. All she demands is justice. Visit this mother and ask her what she demands. I call out to the AKP MPs: the AKP has 290 MPs; you rejected the request to establish a parliamentary commission to investigate the incident. A massacre was carried out at Suruç State Hospital in front of the governor of Urfa, the district governor, and police officers. Everyone knows that now.” Ferit Şenyaşar called on Turkey’s Parliament to establish a Parliamentary Investigative Commission to investigate the incident.

“My son should be released”

Emine Şenyaşar demanded justice be delivered again. She also demanded her son, who has been held in prison for three years, be released. “My son should be released. I cannot sit anymore. My son is innocent but he has been held in prison. But the killers are free.”
