Öcalan calls for a transitional phase Toward a democratic republice

Öcalan said the current opportunity for democratic integration has local and global dimensions and must be approached responsibly to ensure positive change.

The delegation-consisting of pervin Buldan,Mithat Sancar,and Faik Özgür-— visited İmralı Prison on Monday, November 3,to meet with the kurdish leader adbullah Öcalan,on Tuesday ,the delegation released an official statement about the meeting

 The statement read:

“On November 3, we held a highly positive meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island that lasted nearly three hours. His health and morale were very strong. During our discussion, he shared several evaluations aimed at advancing the political process. He emphasized that history and sociology must be approached with greater seriousness and stressed the importance of recognizing that Turkish–Kurdish relations have stood as two interlinked pillars for a thousand years. Therefore, this bond must be strengthened by understanding and restoring these two pillars.

The statement further noted that Mr. Öcalan highlighted the need to act not by drawing new lines or divisions, but by shaping a new horizon that encompasses current issues despite existing constraints. He underlined the importance of sustained efforts for a historic cause, clarifying that the goal is not to enter a negative or destructive phase but to build a constructive and positive one>

 He also emphasized the necessity of integrating the Kurdish question, in all its dimensions, within the framework of the Republic’s legitimacy, viewing the establishment of a strong transitional phase as an essential step in this direction.

“Through his evaluations, Mr. Öcalan explained that a comprehensive transformation toward legitimacy would strengthen and solidify the legal foundations of a democratic republic. The opportunity for democratic integration that stands before us today represents both a local and global dimension. Addressing this stage with sensitivity, seriousness, and a sense of responsibility is vital to achieving the desired positive transition,” the delegation’s statement concluded.
