In Türkiye, 139 workers died at workplaces in May, 738 workers died at workplaces in the first five months of 2024, said the report released by the Laborer Health and Occupational Safety Assembly (İSİG).
News Center- The Laborer Health and Occupational Safety Assembly (İSİG) has released its report giving information about how many workers died at workplaces in the first five months of 2024 in Türkiye.
At least 738 workers died at workplaces in the first five months of 2024; 161 in January, 149 in February, 124 in March, 165 in April and 139 in May, according to the report.
In May, 15 workers died at workplaces in Istanbul, eight in Bursa, seven in Ankara, seven in Sakarya, six in Urfa. Two child workers aged 15-17 and three women workers died in the work-related accidents, according to the report.
39 workers died in the construction sector, 25 workers in the agricultural sector, 22 workers in the transportation sector, eight in the metals sector and seven in the hospitality and entertainment sector, the assembly said in the report.
