HDP Peoples and Beliefs Commission co-chair, Tülay Hatimoğulları has released a written statement for the “Çarşema Sor” festival of Yazidi people.
News Center- Tülay Hatimoğulları, the co-chair of the Peoples and Beliefs Commission at the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), has released a written statement for the “Çarşema Sor” (Red Wednesday) festival of Yazidi people. “Çarşema Serê Nîsanê, or Çarşema Sor celebrated by the Yazidi people as the beginning of spring and the first day of the new year is also the day when the earth and universe are fermented,” she says in the statement.
“We will get out of the spiral of violence together”
In the statement, Tülay Hatimoğulları stresses that the Yazidi people have been subjected to 73 edicts for their language, culture, identity, and belief. “The 73rd edict that took place in Shengal was carried out against Yazidis before the eyes of the entire world and the fate of thousands of women and children abducted by ISIS has been unknown since 2014. On April 18, on the eve of the Çarşema Sor Festival, Yazidis were once again attacked. We feel wholeheartedly the grief and pain of the Yazidis. We will get out of the spiral of violence together by being in solidarity with them. And we will all see the days when we will celebrate this festival not in grief, but with the joy of festivals.”
“We wish it brings peace”
In the statement, it is stated that the Çarsema Sor Festival, which represents the absolute goodness of the Yazidis, will herald the liberation of Yazidi women and children and the freedom of the Yazidi people and added: “We believe that people from different nations and beliefs can live together freely. We wish the Çarşema Sor festival, which is the symbol of new life, brings peace, freedom, justice, and equality to all people and happy Çarşema Sor to the Yazidi people. Cejna pîroz Çarşema Sor ya Gelê Êzidî pîroz be!”
