389th day of sit-in protest for justice: “Remaining silent against oppression is being a party to it”
Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who have been struggling for justice in Urfa for 389 days, say, “Remaining silent against oppression is being a party to it.”
Riha - The sit-in protest started in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in Suruç by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has continued on its 389th day. Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the Urfa Courthouse from their home in the Suruç district in the morning to keep holding their sit-in protest.
They began to hold their sit-in protest by holding a banner reading, “They killed my husband and two sons! There is not a single arrestee. One of my sons has been held in solitary confinement for four years by the orders of superiors. I demand the immediate release of my son. Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for everyone.”
“What is sacred is not only living. We demand justice for a dignified and just life. Remaining silent against oppression is being a party to it,” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account by tagging the accounts of Governor of Urfa Abdullah Erin, President and AKP leader Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ.
