“300 lives have gone”
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Migrants and Refugees Commission Co-Spokespersons Gülsüm Ağaoğlu and Veli Saçılık issued a statement about the death of 300 migrants after a ship capsized off Yemen's coast. “According to the statement made by the United Nations, about 300 migrants, who departed to build a new life for them, died after their ship capsized off Yemen's coast. Probably there were women and children among them. 300 lives have gone. As a result of similar tragedies all over the world, especially in the Middle East, the seas are full of dead bodies. Many bodies have washed up at coasts, like Aylan Kurdi. Those responsible for these tragedies are those who impose wars on the peoples, the capitalist system that maintains its power through these wars, the nation-state paradigm. The death of 300 people is not a “boat accident” but a massacre caused by the capitalist system. Unfortunately, the world is just watching this tragedy. Organizations like the UN only report. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. We call on humanity to take action against this situation. We say this tragedy should be the last tragedy. We have waged a struggle for an equal and free life for all people around the world. Our responsibility is to end wars in order to end such tragedies.  We are determined to grow our struggle so that everyone can live freely and happily in the world and in their own country,” the statement says.
