The 2^nd Middle East and North Africa Women's Conference will take place today in Lebanon with the participation of 100 delegates.

Beirut –The 2^nd Middle East and North Africa Women's Conference will kick off today in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, with the participation of 100 delegates. Büşra Eli, the chair of the Lebanese Women's Association and a member of the conference's preparatory committee, reported that the preparation for the conference has been completed. The conference will last two days.

“Women will share their experiences”

100 delegates from many countries such as Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Yemen, Jordan, Libya, and Sudan will attend the conference. “The main topic of the conference will be the problems experienced by women in the Middle East and North Africa. The women will discuss their problems and try to find solutions. The women will share their experiences,” Büşra Eli told our news agency.

The conference was planned to be held in May 2020 but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We wanted to hold the 2^nd Middle East and North Africa Women's Conference in May 2020 but we had to postpone it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 300 delegates would attend the conference but 100 delegates will attend the conference due to the pandemic. Other delegates will join the conference via Zoom.”

The first conference was held in 2013

The first Middle East Women’s Conference was held on May 31, 2013 in Amed (Diyarbakır).  250 women from 27 countries attended the conference.
