“16 days” campaign in Algeria

United Nations Population Fund and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Algeria have launched a campaign called “16 Days” within the scope of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Algeria- United Nations Population Fund and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Algeria have launched a campaign called “16 Days” within the scope of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (25 November to 10 December 2021). A course, which started on Sunday (November 7), has been organized for press workers to raise awareness of the public against violence against gender-based violence. The course will last two weeks.

“Reinforce the legal protection”

During the first session of the course, Wahiba Sakani, the head of the office of the United Nations Population Fund in Algeria, called for reinforcing and activating of laws for women. She pointed out that this should be announced to everyone through media outlets and communities.

Rashida Obech, the representative of the Ministry of Justice, stated that the legal system in Algeria has strengthened laws to protect women from violence, and legal articles to protect children.
