Riha- The sit-in protest for justice staged by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack, carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 143rd day today.
The family members held a placard reading, “A mother has held a sit-in protest in front of the Şanlıurfa Courthouse demanding justice for 143 days. Her husband and two sons were killed at the hospital. No lawsuit has been opened because a member of parliament was involved in the massacre.”
The Şenyaşar family’s lawyer Serhat Kurt held the sit-in protest with Emine Şenyaşar and Ferit Şenyaşar. Three years have passed since the massacre took place, Serhat Kurt said, “The massacre at the workplace belonging to the Şenyaşar family and what happened at the Suruç State Hospital have been divided into two separate investigations. Fadıl Şenyaşar, who was the victim of the attack on their workplace, was arrested. Enver Yıldız was also arrested but all people in Turkey know how he surrendered to the police. No lawsuit has been opened into what happened at the hospital. As lawyers of the family, we have applied for the removal of the confidentiality order on the documents about what happened at the hospital many times. We demand the confidentiality order on the documents be lifted.”
Serhat Kurt also called on all NGOs and bar associations to be in solidarity with the Şenyaşar family.
“The killer of our relatives must stand trial,” the Şenyaşar family said in their today’s tweet.
