Mass summons of Tahran University students to the disciplinary committee
Tehran University summoned over 10 students, opened disciplinary files, charging them with inciting chaos, rioting, and being a main element in an illegal gathering, sparking controversy in Iran.
News Center – The “United Students” channel, a news and human rights platform on the social media site Telegram, announced wide-ranging summonses of Tehran University students in Iran to the disciplinary committee.
According to the report published by the “United Students” channel today, Monday, June 1, 2026, and continuation of the wave of wide-ranging summonses to disciplinary committees, Tehran University took a “strange” step: contacting more than 10 students, informing them that disciplinary files had been opened against them, and charging with offenses such as “inciting chaos and rioting” and incitement to an illegal gathering.”
According to the report, the students were asked in these contacts to submit a "preliminary defense" via email, while the disciplinary committee session was postponed until the resumption of university activities.
The "United Students" channel also affirmed that these summonses come at a time when, according to the 2024 disciplinary regulations, charges must be clarified with evidence presented in a face‑to‑face session, after which the student presents their defense in the preliminary hearing.
The report also stressed that requesting a "preliminary defense" and issuing charges without providing documents violates the procedures stipulated in the disciplinary regulations.
