In less than a week... seven women killed and dead in Turkey
In the last six days, four women were killed by men in various cities of Turkey and North Kurdistan. Additionally, three others were seriously injured in assaults, while three other women died under mysterious circumstances.
News Center – Crimes against women continue to rise. Since the beginning of Eid al‑Adha, four women have been killed, three others seriously injured, and three women have died under suspicious circumstances.
On the first day of Eid, May 27, Emine Asen was found in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin with serious gunshot wounds, but she died after being taken to the hospital.
In the İzmit district of Kocaeli province, Şevket A., who had been released from prison on Eid al‑Adha leave, attempted to kill his wife, Külşah A., and another woman in the house, Ayşe D., by seriously injuring them with a sharp object. After the incident, the perpetrator fled but was later detained.
On May 28, in Burdur, Veli A. shot his ex‑wife, Saded A., seriously injuring her. The perpetrator fled but was later arrested. Saded A. remains in critical condition after being transferred to the hospital.
On May 29, the body of Hediye Karakulak (53 years old) was found under suspicious circumstances near a water channel in Ardahan. An investigation has been opened.
On May 30, in Çanakkale, a murder was committed by Ramazan Cantürk against Maya Ülker, his flatmate. The perpetrator was arrested and jailed on charges of premeditated murder.
In Kırklareli, writer Aytten Öztürk was killed by her nephew with a sharp object while visiting her mother and relatives for Eid al‑Adha. The perpetrator fled but was later detained.
On May 31, in Elazığ, a sergeant killed his wife with a firearm. The perpetrator was arrested, and an investigation has begun.
Deaths under mysterious circumstances
In Konya, a 19‑year‑old university student who worked in a café was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the storage room of her workplace. An investigation has been opened.
On June 1, in the Fatih district of Istanbul, a woman died after falling suspiciously from the fifth floor of a building.
