United Nations: Rising Tensions Threaten Global Food Security.
The United Nations has warned of the worsening hunger crisis in several countries already suffering from high levels of food insecurity, including Yemen, because of regional tensions and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Geopolitical shifts and supply chain disruptions have placed growing pressure on food and energy price, threatening to expand the scope of hunger in the most fragile countries and posing new challenges to the global economy.
He explained that the partial closure of maritime and air corridors and major roads in the Middle East hinders humanitarian poeratiions and suppiy chains, affecting the availability and prices of essential goods and affected. He noted that the repercussions of military escalation extend beyond the borders of affected countries, having contributed to destabilizing the global economy with rising oil, fuel, and gas prices.
The UN officials affirmed that a quarter of globally seaborne oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz, along with large quantities of liquefied natural gas and fertilizers. He warned that attacks on commercial vessels and maritime transport threaten the delivery of essential supplies, thereby increasing the risks of rising food prices and placing additional pressure on fragile health systems in countries facing humanitarian crises.
