Çîçek Cengîz, a member of the Ishtar Women's Council Coordination in the Makhmur refugee camp, thinks the aggravated isolation imposed upon Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan is the isolation imposed upon all peoples.

ROJEVÎN RÛBA

Makhmur- Since March 2021, no news has been received from Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been kept under an aggravated isolation in Imrali Prison. For 17 months, he has not been allowed to see his family members and lawyers. Çîçek Cengîz, a member of the Ishtar Women's Council Coordination in the Makhmur refugee camp, spoke to NuJINHA about the aggravated isolation imposed upon Abdullah Öcalan.

“Öcalan’s philosophy has been isolated”

Stating that Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan has exhibited a great resistance despite the isolation imposed on him, Çîçek Cengîz said, “The imperialist and capitalist powers want to destroy the ideology and philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan, who is the only solution for all problems in the Middle East. Therefore, they have intensified their actions violating international law and imposed an aggravated isolation upon Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. The isolation imposed upon him in the Imrali prison is actually the isolation imposed upon all peoples.”

“The isolation is against all peoples in the Middle East”

Pointing out that all Kurdish people are targeted in the person of Abdullah Öcalan, Çîçek Cengîz said, “It is shameful that the CTP does not fulfill its responsibilities towards all isolated prisoners. The attack on leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) is the attack against the Kurdish people. That’s why, we, as women living abroad and in the four parts of Kurdistan, strengthen our organized struggle and try to show our free will. The isolation imposed upon leader Apo is against all peoples and women in the Middle East.”

“We should struggle against the isolation”

Emphasizing that women should struggle more to break the isolation, Çîçek Cegîz said, “We, as the Kurdish women, have a very valuable historical heritage. We must fulfil our role and responsibility in breaking the aggravated isolation and particularly in breaking down the walls of shame created by the occupying states between the Kurdish people and their leader. Women should struggle against isolation. We invite all women of the world to total resistance to break the isolation.”
